In April 2023 my primary physician referred me to a dermatologist with Sanford Health for a mole removal on my face. The appointment was initially scheduled for November 2023. On July 17 the dermatology office called me and told me a doctor can see me on the same day. I took time off work to drive to West Fargo and see the doctor. It soon became evident I was not seeing a doctor, but a physician assistant - Mr. Matthew Potter. He flatly refused to remove the mole - the reason I was referred to Sanford Dermatology in the first place. "But since you're here I can check for any skin conditions instead" - he offered. I agreed. There was an age spot on my right shoulder. He offered a removal. Having had an age spot removed from my face previously and without a trace, I agreed. The age spot removed from my face was removed with electrocautery. Mr. Potter did not use that type of equipment. He used liquid nitrogen instead and he sprayed 5 or 6 times the little brown spot. I was surprised and certainly not warned that I will be replacing a benign age spot with an ugly scar. Mr. Potter only said it may hurt a bit. Electrocautery hurts too, therefore no difference at that point. However unlike electrocautery procedure and as a result of this spraying with liquid nitrogen, I had a large blister on my shoulder. It broke a day or two later and turned into a large wound. I had to treat it with local antibiotic and suffer the consequences of very unprofessional treatment. Now I don't have the age spot, but I am branded with a scar for life. In conclusion, I did not see a plastic surgeon as promised, and I ended up being treated highly unprofessionally at the Sanford Dermatology.
