Dr. Marlene Anne Jarin, MD

Dr Jarin is my main Dr. and coordinates some care with specialists.  She is very responsive to questions online and her great staff at Care Resource is always helpful at getting things done in a prompt and friendly manner.   I hope to be with her for many years to come.

I had surgery scheduled for the 31st March and was ordered the pre-surgical. 
On the 20th or 21st March (not sure) I went to see Dr. Jarin.

Dr. Jarin did what she had to do and sent me home. The medical papers said that the tests where going to be forwarded to the hospital, so I went on with my preparations for surgery.

On Wednesday 29 March I received a call from the Hospital saying that I had to urgently contact my PGP (Dr Jarin) because they need to see me before authorizing the surgical procedure.

Dr Jarin told me they have lost a blood sample, also that she detected an anomaly in my urine test.

I was absolutely shocked this was left to the 11th hour, and asked why I wasn't contacted prior since they had 10 days leading time. Dr Jarin answer was to reprimand me, like this was all my fault.

She said something along the lines of "I expect patients to take active participation in their health care", to which I asked why I wasn't contacted any earlier and how would I take active participation when I was told that I needn't worry, that the results were going to be sent to the hospital.

Dr Jarin also tried to implant in the conversation the notion that she told me to contact care resources and follow this up, which is completely false.

Dr Jarin consulted with admins, she said that we could expedite the blood sample and I will not miss my surgery slot. So we did the sample again.

She also said that her office called me repeatedly but I did not answer. My response to that was that they even had enough leading time to send me a letter.

I checked with the admins at the office, they had my phone number misspelled. Apart from my home address they had my email address also.

People who really care would not let this happen and go on for a full 10 days until is too late to fix. Moreover, they could have called the hospital asking to reach me.

Dr Jarin lied. The tests were never performed in time and I missed my surgery. I was devastated.

I am set to loose at least $2000 from this completely unacceptable, negligent mishap, apart from making my life miserable.

Dr Jarin's responsibility is undeniable. It is also unacceptable. Her and admin staff behaved along the lines of "well, we called his guy a few times and he did not answer, tough luck".

If it wasn't for the hospital which raised the alarm and contacted me, I would have gone to surgery without knowing it was cancelled.

Another serious aspect is the loss of my blood sample.

My rating could not be lower.

Summing up, Dr Jarin was unapologetic and even tried to blame me. She promised to resolve this and did not, and did not even had the guts to call me and explain why my blood samples were not ready as promised. It was the hospital, once again, the ones that behaved professionally and told me what was going on.

Needless to say that the result of my urine test and the missing of my blood vial demanded for the "care practitioners" to contact me without delay,  but what would have happened if these had revealed a life-threatening situation? Again, three calls to the wrong number and "tough luck"?
