I have been to this office a few times throughout my life. Once when I was younger, 18 years old, and had an ulcer due to stress. My experience was very pleasant and dealt with accordingly. I ended up moving out of town so I left the practice. Upon moving back to town I went to see them again, since I had a good experience with them previously. I have issues with bacterial overgrowth and when seeing Dr Katta he said they do not test for that, but gave me antibiotics to deal with it anyway. I ended up having multiple upper endoscopies over the course of 6 months. I was told that the issues I had, they do not deal with, and I was suggested to find another provider. My suggestion is if you have complicated GI issues, you should probably find another office that deals with more in depth cases then this practice, but if you are for sure going to see them, ask to be scheduled with the nurse practitioner Jane in the Fort Pierce office. She is very kind, listens super well to your concerns & seems to be very caring. Jackie at the front desk in Fort Pierce is amazing & goes way beyond her job title to help you in any way possible!

I had my initial appointment at the office so they could obtain medical history and schedule a colonoscopy. I arrived early for that appointment and waited about 15-20 minutes after my appointment time before being seen. The nurse practitioner who met with me could not have been more bored. She constantly yawned throughout our meeting and acted like she'd rather be anywhere else. I explained that I had had some issues following a previous colonoscopy, and had my records sent to Dr. Katta's office. The prep info for the colonoscopy was thorough, and I was able to schedule the procedure a few weeks in advance. On the day of the procedure, I arrived at the surgical center a few minutes early (before they had opened), and the center was not unlocked and open to patients for several minutes after their scheduled opening time. That said, the nursing staff was good and I was in the surgical suite about 15 minutes after I got into the building. I met Dr. Katta briefly and mentioned the issue I had had with a prior colonoscopy and he seemed not to know what I was talking about. I don't think he had reviewed that file. He was pleasant and seemed unconcerned about my prior issue, and as it turned out, I didn't have any polyps removed so there was no issue following the colonoscopy this time.

The billing office sent a bill quickly, which I forwarded to my HSA. I arranged for a check to be sent right away. A month later, I received another bill for the same amount, indicating that I was past due. I checked my HSA account and the check had been sent on time. I tried calling the billing office but there was no answer, so I sent a letter with copies of the two bills and asked them to check again as the payment had been sent. For almost a month I had a series of phone calls with the billing office and my HSA; the latter sent a copy of the canceled check, which had been cashed by the practice three weeks before the second billing statement was sent. I called the billing office again and informed them that I had a copy of the check and they said that the check had posted to my account (but the posting date was almost four weeks AFTER the check had been cashed) so there was nothing outstanding.

I think the doctor himself is okay, but his office staff and billing department leave a lot to be desired.
