Dr. Hira Irfan, MD

Hira Irfan, MD, has joined the pulmonary department of the Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Clinic at Chad Drive. Dr. Irfan has completed her bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery from Dow University of Health Sciences, Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency at Saint Mary Mercy Hospital, her fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Ascension Providence Hospital and most recently completed a fellowship in interventional pulmonology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Ohio. In addition to her other specialties, she is board certified in interventional pulmonology and has expertise in minimally invasive therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary and pleural procedures. Family is important to her, and she was inspired to become a doctor by her father’s dreams for her and her siblings. A visit to an intensive care unit during her residency clarified her career goals. “When I think of caring for my patients, I think of family: If this was my family member, I would do this, and that’s what I do,” Irfan said. “My home is Pakistan, and my family is far away. I carry their love into the care of my patients here in the U.S. and think of everyone as my family member.” She is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi in addition to English. She is married, and when she isn’t working, she enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband, along with swimming, painting, cooking and playing throw-ball.
