I had been seeing Dr. Stevenson since 2008 for Restless Legs Syndrome. In the spring he sent me home with a device to see if I had sleep apnea. The device malfunctioned. I told him about this and he told me that I had sleep apnea and needed to buy a cpap machine from the company he was going to refer me to. I repeatedly asked him to order a sleep study in their sleep lab. The last time I had a sleep study done in their sleep lab was several years ago and it did not indicate that I had sleep apnea. Dr. Stevenson refused to order the sleep study. Instead he sent me a certified letter dismissing me as his patient and only gave me 30 days to find another doctor and said that after that he would no longer approve medication refills. I did some research online and found that those are heavily sedating medications and for the last several years have asked him to prescribe less sedating medications. He always refused. My new doctor just evaluated the results of the sleep study he ordered for me recently and told me that I do not have sleep apnea. Dr. Stevenson has always been very condescending with me when I made any kind of request. If I tried to ask him a question he would always dismiss me with a rude response. I always experienced him as arrogant.
