My experience at Baratta Dermatology was the worst I have ever had with a medical professional and staff. I have never had what I would call a bad experience with a doctor or practice until my visit to Baratta. I interacted with three different people; the receptionist, a nurse, and Dr Baratta. None of which were kind, friendly, or pleasant in any way. So if you like those qualities in the people you interact with during a doctors visit, this practice isn’t for you. Dr Baratta’s examination was thorough, and she agreed that the mole I pointed out as a concern should be “looked at”. The next thing I know she is sticking me with a needle and numbing the area without first notifying me that she was going to be doing that! I was so shocked by that, and trying to figure out what she had done, that I didn’t realize promptly after that she was removing the mole with a razor- again, without telling me. I consider that absolutely horrendous behavior in a care professional. There was no consent whatsoever, because having something “looked at” doesn’t immediately translate to a laymen as “removed”. Not only was there no consent, but there was no time for me to consider my options. I would have much rather gone to a plastic surgeon to have it removed so I did not wind up with what is sure to be a very large scar compared to the size of the actual mole. The nurse used as little words as humanly possible to describe my after care, and when I went to ask her a question she handed me a paper and said all of the information was on it. After they left the room and I was getting changed back into my clothes, the nurse came back in, in the middle of me changing, to give me a bag of samples, which I also found to be incredibly rude and unprofessional. It’s no wonder I was able to get a new patient visit within a week of my initial phone call. Needless to say I will not be returning.
