Dermatologist - Falls Church, VA

"Avoid. Brusque, curt, rude, and dismissive. I had my first and last appointment today. It lasted all of 10 minutes. I had acne and hyoerpigmentation concerns. As I explained, he interrupted me midsentence, and snapped, "I wouldn't change what you're using now. If you like it, keep using it. Don't pay money on prescriptions just to spend money." Excuse me? I was asking him for his medical opinion on whether I needed prescriptions in the first place. And I don't need accounting advice, thanks. He whipped out two prescriptions (one for a medication I was already taking), and hurried me out. I asked the front desk whether he was always that brusque, and they said yes. They also said his father was exactly the same way. No, thanks. You're not getting my time and co-pay if you have no time for me. This is health we're talking about. He might be a fine doctor if he never had to interact with patients. But he does. Luckily, I won't be one of them."

"I chose Dr. Nelson because of the reviews I read on how wonderful she was. If she is or isn't, I don't know because when we showed up, the receptionist was online while chewing food. Couldn't even speak because of how full it was. But that didn't bother me as much as her stating that our appt. had been cancelled because the doctor didn't work that day. Apparently, the appt. was scheduled on a day that she does not work. The receptionist never called me to reschedule. But even that didn't anger me more than the fact that she and her office manager were so blase about this mistake on their part. They didn't apologize and really didn't care whether we stayed and rescheduled or went somewhere else. All I can say is that if the staff doesn't care right at the start, I'm going to assume the doctor is the same. So No thank you!"

"Dr. Kopelman has been the first derm to “crack the code” for my skin issues/acne. I’ve seen many dermatologists over the years, and she’s been the most thorough and thoughtful. She really listens and collaborates with you, which I really appreciate. I’ve been a patient for about 9 months now, and she’s been great every time."
