This says everything I feel about this Dr. I've developed a rare disease that was misdiagnosed over and over by specialists, yet Dr. Freeman listened to me and became an advocate in finding results for me. He's been very supportive and I never feel rushed when I'm in the office with him. So if you want this type of attention when it comes your turn with him, be patient if he's a few minutes late, he's giving someone else their time. "

"A year or so ago I switched to Dr Beach, because I did not feel my current doctor cared about my exams or listened to me. Dr Beach is present for my exams. She listens, offers advice and advises me regarding my future care. I have been very happy since switching to her. Too many doctors rush through exams and act as though they have already moved on to the next patient. Dr Beach does not do this and I have been happy to refer her to others. "

"I did not get the impression that Dr. Inman cared very much about my health. Conversations with her felt like they were just to tick boxes rather than understand my issues. I think of myself as a trusting person, so I took this as a sign that maybe she was confident about my health and course of treatment about some neurological conditions. For context, without trying to give away too many details, I have a couple of distinct conditions with two distinct courses of treatment. She prescribed a course of treatment to address one of them that made me quite sick for a few weeks, and could have sent me to the hospital, or worse. More or less, she threw a bunch of medication at me all at once. I came to learn that the course of treatment she prescribed was not only extreme, but highly unusual and unscientific. I will not speculate as to her reasons why or whether she knew how they would interact. I did get the impression, however, that she was more interested in proving her own hypothesis - one which I didn't understand fully - than in working together on an appropriate course of treatment for my conditions. I trusted her to give me good care to help improve my quality of life. I blindly followed her advice. I admit that in general, I have come to learn that I should be actively questioning more. But her advice caused me real harm for the better part of a month, and could have ended up a lot worse. I no longer trust her. If you seek care from her I recommend you learn from my mistake and take a very active role in understanding her reasoning for her decisions and in explaining the context of your condition. I had a horrible experience, but maybe you will have a better experience than me."

"Dr. was very dismissive of my C-PTSD and Panic Disorder. I carry a card given to me by my psychologist that explains I have these conditions and what level of care I need. For example, it states I need to keep as much of my clothing on as possible, to be told what the Dr. is going to do before she does it, etc. I gave her the card, she saw it was a psychiatric issue and set it aside without even reading it. She was very abrupt and didn't take time to listen (also, she didn't even remember what I DID TELL her even a few weeks later when I had to call the office regarding Rx). Incredibly rude and uncaring, not to mention unprofessional. When I told my psychologist who I had seen, she told me that this Dr. was known for being dismissive to patients with psychiatric issues, even when they are caused by trauma. "

What is Primary Care?

There are several kinds of primary care doctors. Which specialty you search for depends primarily on your age:

Adults see internal medicine doctors (also called "internists").
Babies, children, and teenagers see pediatricians.
Seniors see geriatricians.
Anyone can see a family medicine doctor.

Primary care doctors see people for check-ups, physical exams, or routine bloodwork. They also help people with chronic illnesses manage their conditions.

Primary care doctors are very important. If you haven't seen a doctor in a while, you will most likely start with a primary care doctor. If you have medical problems or concerns, your primary care doctor can diagnose you and refer you to the right specialist for further consultation.
