Dermatologist - Glen Cove, NY

"Went to see Dr. Jonathan Beschloss because I was experiencing dry skin in my pelvic region. I came half an hour early to my appointment so I would have enough time to fill out the new patient paperwork. I was shown into an exam room at my appointment time and told to put on a hospital gown and wait. I waited for at least 25 minutes sitting on the exam table, all the while, I can hear the doctor outside of the exam room, chit-chatting with other staff. Finally Dr. Beschloss comes into the exam room and asks me what I am there for. I tell him about the skin dryness and I showed pictures on my phone I had taken of my skin when it was particularly dry and you could easily see it. He looked at the pictures and briefly examined me. He told me it didn't look like anything serious and he seemed very disinterested and in a rush to leave the exam room. I had to keep asking questions about what could be causing it, was it my soap, is there anything I can do or use to prevent it? He brushed off all my concerns with very non-specific answers and no real advice. When I told him I was concerned because it didn't look normal, his response was, "What is normal?" What kind of question is that? Dry, flaky skin is obviously not normal. Don't you know? Aren't you the dermatologist? Because I was persistently asking questions, he eventually just gave me a tiny little lotion bottle that looks like it's worth $1 & said I could use this "if I want." He gave absolutely no directions as to when to use it (before/after shower), how frequently to use it, for how long, etc. I left the office extremely upset that I had been treated so carelessly and dismissed, all while receiving no advice or resolution to a problem I am very concerned about. Far from comforting me, Dr. Beschloss made me feel insignificant and like my concerns were a joke. Will never return and would not recommend anyone else go to this practice."
