". I came to Dr Schoifet after injuring my left knee playing Pickleball. I tried other treatments first, such as injections and physical therapy. They did not yield positive results, so I consulted an orthopedic surgeon at another practice, and he recommended surgery. I came to Dr Schoifet for a second opinion consult. Dr Schoifet noted the damage also and that surgery was my only option. I opted to stay with Dr. Schoifet. Dr Schoifet performed a total knee replacement in late July. It has now been 7 months and I am worse now than before the surgery. My knee is extremely stiff, I cannot bend past 90 degrees, I experience sharp, stabbing pains all the time, and the joint is loose, and makes “crunching and clunking sounds”. Dr. Schoifet has attempted to address my issue in several ways , but none have proved effective. He first said he suspected scar tissue, so he performed a procedure called a MUA. That did nothing to improve my knee. He then said that I may have an infection in the knee. Blood work showed no infection. I then had an MRI done and it showed some necrosis of the bone, a tear in the patellar tendon and some fluid accumulation. Dr. Schoifet dismissed all of those findings, and he claimed, without any basis, that the Doctor who read the MRI images and issued the report thought my knee replacement was ten years old. I later confirmed with SJRA that the radiologist knew that the knee replacement was only several months old. Next, Dr Schoifet claimed that the reason my knee hurt so much was that I had a pinched nerve in my back. I underwent an MRI of my back. Of course at my age, 75, it did show some moderate compression of some discs. I underwent a procedure with another doctor for a spinal injection which according to Dr. Schoifet would relieve the pain in my knee. Well, that did not work either. Dr. Schoifet said he was not going to do anything else and that “our relationship is over” and I should go find another doctor. He even claimed in a post visit note, that “he did not plan on doing any further intervention” and that I have a “well-functioning , noninfectious knee”. I have never experienced such indifference from a doctor. I have never had a doctor fundamentally give up and tell me to go elsewhere. Dr. Schoifet acted in a dismissive and arrogant manner and completely disregarded my pain and refused to take any responsibility for what is obviously a flawed outcome. I am now left practically “crippled” in my left leg. I cannot resume any semblance of my previous life. I was previously very active; played a vigorous sport 3 times a week, rode a bike, hiked, and worked out, now I can hardly walk across my apartment. "
